Kitchen Step Stool - My Search For The Right One
The question bugging me is, its time I had a kitchen step stool but I’m not sure which one will best suite me. Well, its not just me. My husband is 6 feet tall, I’m 5ft 3ins and my son is the normal height for a two year old. If I get a three step unit, I know my husband will start using the tops of cupboards for extra storage making it harder for me to reach - again. My son has decided he should help with the washing up (not much help! but he likes blowing bubbles) and as he is potty training, if I can find the right kitchen step stool it can double up and be useful for him when he gets to the point where he wants to use a grown-ups’ toilet.
So I decided I would have to take an analytical approach to solving my problem. This is how I decided what I needed.. We don’t have a lot of extra space for a new bulky kitchen step stool, so size was my first criteria. My daughter is just six months old and together with my two year old, ware and tare in the kitchen is heavy now and has every likelihood of increasing, so strength is my second criteria. Next, I am a very happy mum in a kitchen I designed and I like it, so the third criteria is it has to be attractive. And lastly, a kitchen step stool is convenient but not essential, so my final criteria is cost.
Having decided my criteria for my new kitchen step stool, the first place to look was on-line. I realized how many different types, materials and designs are available. There is the traditional step stool, useful in the household. A quick search on Google brought up hundreds of suppliers and the good thing is, the addy’s come up for the country I lived in. The selection will include kitchen step stools with strong aluminium legs, wipe clean surfaces and plywood treads which folds away quite neatly. But it didn’t suit my idea of appearance. Having looked at the photographs I decided a solid wood construction kitchen step stool would best fit my aesthetic values.
My search on-line continued, visiting comparison websites like, Amazon, eBay and Direct Suppliers, until I found just the answer; a solid wooden kitchen step stool, just two steps, attractive and easy to store neatly under the kitchen table. Priced at under $50 its ideal for my growing son and daughter, my husband will be able to change light bulbs and I can reach into cupboards. At last, we will have a new, very useful solid wooden kitchen step stool.
